Indeed. All the basses David used in the old days (scarab, explorer, scepter and his thunderbirds). Trey's red V after Covenant's release.

And they used their gibby's extensively. Trey had his V's and red Explorer. Erik jammed on that black explorer.

His instagib is iconic ofc. but he did not use it for a long time after Blessed. He brought it out again after 66tt6.

I do not get that exited over Dean also.. Though the older deans (befor Rubinstien (?) took over) are good guitars.

I want his red Charvel explorer that thing is so Uber cool.

Yeah, it's actually a Charvette Explorer. He also used one of the more classic Charvel guitars, wich can be seen in the Rehearsal 1990 video on youtube.

I wonder what guitars Trey used on Altars of Madness. The InstaGib and that Charvel is very possible.

Sorry but it is not. The one i am talking about is a red "gold logo" Charvel on which he had a floyd installed.

The blue charvel he has is a frankenstein. A Charvel 275 toothpase logo neck on a aftermarket body quite possibly not even a charvel.

The one charvel you are talking about from the vid is probably his model 5 FX. Lavabug has one. There a plenty of live shots of him using that one.

Charvette are the lowest budget line BTW. They were not that long in production back in the days. And in all the catalogues i have, i've never seen a Charvette explorer shape. Have a pic of it?

Yeah that Hamer is awesome. 24 frets, boomerang inlay, edge trem, PAF like hummies.. Tone monster.

Did you know Covenant has his Gib explorer on the one side and his charvel explorer on the other? I know, i'm a geek...

Yes indeed! I remember him mentioning that years ago. Also, I believe he said the Gib had EMG passives and the Charv, active.

I have the Charvel 475, and I love it very much. The tone is phenomenal, Jackson pickups and a Jackson humbuck.

Mmm Really? In the interview in which he told about this he expressed some ill feelings towads actives... He talked about "gibson" passive's pickups alll the time.

On the pics accompaying the article the guitar has passive's for sure. (have them on my wall.)

@ Maze: That Charvel is from before Charvettes were put on the market. Google pics for Charvel explorer you'll find some very nice guitars. This one originally had a classic style trem. And was (again) heavily modded.

It is custom build for him. Not a production model.

Yes, the 22 fret version is very easy to find. But it is only delivered fixed bridge I think.
