just tons of epic tone, can be super fuzzy but still organic



and cleans up like a champ, lower volume is perfect for blues tones



it's nice to be able to control my guitar's sound nearly 100% with my guitar's own controls, so much more handy than reaching down to mess with a pedal or amp



I was jamming with super tight distortion the other day, and it just isn't the same, much more organic with the fuzz

that Monsterpiece NPN I have is a version of the BC108 fuzz face (blue one)



same thing Hendrix used in the later years and with Band of Gypsys, but it has bias controls to set the bias of the transistors, so basically it's a fuzz face that can do all the fuzz face tones, some tonebender tones, and more



I love how fuzz faces interact with a wah :::::::

I'll either build my own or snatch up a beat-up one and mod into true bypass. I find the whole pedal-modding/building thing really interesting, and technically I should know enough about circuits by now to not fuck it up. All of these oldschool pedals like fuzzes and tubescreamers are technically very simple. You should try building your own, Mark!



I once built a 1W cigarette box amp and it worked (til I plugged it into a DC adapter with the wrong polarity).

muff is a totally different beast, it totally takes over your tone,



where a fuzz face type fuzz is more transparent, but just as fuzzy, and cleans up well with guitar volume



but the nice muffs are still very nice, russian and ram's head muffs
