this is the AMERICAN SPECIAL, and I think is very nice

H-S-S .....all black.Tremolo. I admit it....I always desire a Fender. And this could be MY fender....cause I need the H.



I own a Jackson dinky dk 2 (japan).......and I admit I repent this purchase. I can't stand the Floyd Rose.....seriously........



I am thinking about selling the jackson and buying me a fucking fender...or anyway, If I have enough money....to keep all the guitars I have and buying also a fender





adivices? experiences???

You don't like the floyd rose? Why?



I love strats, but there is 2 benefits about the stratocaster. No.1 - No matter how perfect you tune it, it gets out of tune VERY easily. No.2 - A strat requires a pretty good amp to get a nice sound, but that's no fact, only my experiance.



I asume you will get it scalloped right?

I assume you mean drawbacks instead of benefits.

I also assume that he played some crappola piece. No way that original Fender goes out of tune very easily.

As for the OP, AoD, that guitar is probably made in Mexico, so I wouldn't be so sure it's a quality one. Better make sure before spending cash on it, try it out in a shop or something.

A fellating lover of mine have a Fender Stratocaster from the 80s. It doesn't go out of tune (at-least not more than any other guitar).

I tasted one in a shop this morning...they told me they are made in U.S.A.



p.s. Maze, I don't like the floyd rose cause is fucking uncomfortable imo. Every time you break a string you are obliged to change ALL the strings. With the floyd you are obliged to keep the same tuning. If you want to change it you need to reset the neck etc. I hate this shit.



Of course I am not planning to buy soon a Fender, is just an idea.



Classic guitars (fender,gibsons etc.) never fail.

anyway, I will NOT sell the Jackson; cause I like it. yes, I hate when I have to change the strings or I break a string, but anyway I will keep this guitar.

You don't always need to change all strings with floyded guitars. When you change strings just wrap some extra string on the tuner (few rounds) now when the strings breaks from the floyd end you can just add few inches from the tuner and you don't need to change all strings. Easy

On top of that. If you do not use the trem, block it. Then you have a stable construction with the benefits of the fine tuners and lock.

What guitar did you try that was scalloped? The malmsteen / blackmore signature-guitars is WAY TOO scalloped. I scalloped the neck on my Mockingbird, but I did it just a little bit and I LOVE it.

The whole scalloping thing comes from a time where there were only low, small frets. These days there are far more different types of fret wire avaliable. The need for scalloping is not nessesary anymore when you have (Extra)Jumbos. Almost all my guitars have Jumbo or ExtraJumbo frets. And on those i have never touched the wood of the board. And i am pretty heavy handed. The gibsons have smaller wire and there the board slows down the playing significantly.

Fender wire is 9 out of 10 times smaller too so i can see that a scallop could be handy.



I do not get the scalloping of a shortscale (24,7/8 or 24,75) 24 fret neck. If you are touching wood in the higher registers between those small frets you are always playing out of tune. Blackmore and malmsteen play 25,5 inch necks with 21 or 22 frets. There is more distance between frets and the frets are lower.



The four scalloped frets on the early jems were there for a sustain issue. The thinner big heel did not sound good to vai and the scalloping supposedly added in getting sustain back(?). The all acces heel made the scalloping not nessesary anymore.

I like the way the string gets into your finger. Karl Sanders uses scalloped, Paul Gilbert used to do.

i played on a scalloped fender strat its really cool for bending and stuff but i personally dont feel comfortable with it ...

my universe is scalloped from the 19th to the 24th fret i bought it like this and its a nice gimmick

It's more commonly used now for easier control of vibrato and extended bends.

Sure, ofcourse. But a lot of the people who want to scallop their guitar do it for the novelty and not for practical use if you get what i mean.

I mean whats the point of scalloping a flat radiused board with extraJumbo frets? Bending is smoother/easier because of the flat radius and the large frets are basicly the scallop. It's not like a scallop is a lagre ammount of milimeters deep. Karl's board kan be used for sitar style playing pushing the string down between the frets and thus getting microtonal as opposed to bending them up along the fret.



Don't get me wrong. On a vintige style strat it would work perfect. with the smaller fret wire and such. But on a modern soloist style/metal guitar it is 9 out of 10 not nessesary.
