No, it's Pro Tools 8. That's the only software I use nowadays. Hence the Digidesign Digi 003 interface.

Thanks! It works great, but I'll never have enough outboard hardware, which I'm saving money for...

after my studies my plan is to built my own mixing studio with a recording booth for vocals and guitars/bass, and reamping.

I can always rent the studio of my formal intern place for drums, which has great acoustics and a nice warm analog mixing console and outboard by Amek.

Which Krk's are those, Rockit 8's? If so, IMO better save for better monitors, before spending dough on outboard.



Listening is the most important , so treatment plus monitors



I'm using Yammys HS80m in the project studio I work in, so I'd recommend either that, or Adam A7's

Those are RP 6 G2, for my room size they were the best that I could get around that budget. (199 euros per monitor).

I'd love some Adam or PMC speakers, they sound wonderful and to my taste better than Genelecs due to their titanium tweeters. The Adam's have ribbon tweeters, which sound much clearer and less hissy and sharp. Ofcourse there are a lot of speakers better than mine, but the thing is that you just have to get used to your monitors as well. I know people who make wonderful mixes on KRK's and can't work with Genelecs. Personally, I've done a lot of monitor testing so I know what to search for and what to listen to.



I know the Yamaha HS80m's, it's a pity that the fabric they used to have to make the NS10's isn't produced anymore. Those speakers were/are most of the time a perfect pair to switch to while mixing or mastering, as reference to avarage hifi speakers people have in their homes. Only problem is that most people just listen to their music on PC speakers, headphones or their ipod. Few still have a good hifi system in their homes.



"The perfect speaker" just doesn't exist. It has to do with room size, acoustics, bass port of the speaker, it's frequency range and clearity and dynamics within that reach, etc. Some engineers swear by passive monitors (such as PMC's or JBL's), hooked onto a very good amplifier with a good parametric EQ, instead of active monitors. I'm content with my KRK's for the time being. In a year or two I'll be moving to a bigger place where I most possibly can build my own studio. When the budget is right I'll get some better ones for sure.

Very nice setup there sir. I do vocals at home as well, but it's way more econo-based. If I didn't sard so hard I'd take pictures.

Old easel for a mic stand.

Seinheisser headphones plugged into a Toneport.

No monitors.



It works, but it's not as luxurious.

That's the way, you have to know really well your room and your monitors, so you can compensate. But I was just sayin' what should you get before going out and buying outboard (comps, channel strips/mic pres etc.), because it's far more important for the final result. I've also seen people spending as much as 3000$ on a pair of nearfields, only to put them in an untreated space
