I honestly admit to never got a good sweep picking



I am now on the idea to exercise as much as possible.

how to move the right hand is stills a mystery to the I to create that fucking cool effect

Just takes a lot of practice AOD. Don't try anything where you have to 'roll' your fingers across the frets, that can be really hard for a beginner. Just make sure you are not picking the notes, drag your pick across them like you're playing a regular chord. Also, something else you want to work on is muting the notes after you played them so you don't get any extra noise.

I'd love to help with this but I've never been that good at explaining guitar things. I just....do them.

i always thought this was a nice exercise:

This is the exercise I used to get speed up with sweeps and all that business. It made things a hell of a lot easier because the highest and lowest strings both have two notes on, so you just have to focus on moving your right hand in a kind of circular motion. You'll see what I mean when you try and play it.

You should be picking up up up down down down and so on.

how is the finger positioning on your exercise?

9 = 1

11 = 3 or 2

12 = 4 or 3



?



(1 = index, 2 = middle, 3 = ring, 4 = pinky)

It has been edited, I must have been thinking down as in down the neck rather than downstrokes



Finger-wise, I tend to do 1,2,3 so that I can get used to the shape and still have the pinky free to throw in a note a little higher up the neck. It really comes down to personal preference though, whatever falls easiest under your fingers.
