Not usually no. I honestly prefer playing standing up anyway.

read some piece of advice early on that you should always wear your strap even when sitting down. i don't think it really matters but i do.

also i use dimarzio clip lock straps on all my guitars which are awesome and really comfortable

No as I always hold my guitars in the classical position whenever I'm sitting down. That said, I only have superstrats and I don't have experience with other guitar shapes.

I did have a cheapo les paul knockoff back in the day but I got rid of that very quickly.
