Downloaded this last night to rid myself of the abomination that is Cubase 4 LE. Works great on my pc. (Vista Ultimate x64) I can finally do all the stuff I couldn't with Cubase 4. All the multi-tracks for Ezdrummer, and I can finally record in the program instead of having to do it in another and import.

Comes with a some cool stuff too.

:thingy: :santa:

Yeah, 5er is tha shit now. It has video editing options too, so I assume there will be no more new Nuendo versions in the future.
about to install Cubase 5, i hope it kicks Cubase 4 LE's ass!
i too shall be doing this shortly. My PC is fucking up and i'm cool with starting from scratch (my data is on another drive).

Time consuming, but it's cool.

Then we can exchange Cubase songs stuffs :bang:
Do it man, I installed it this morning and have been having fun with it all day.

Made three short recordings just for fun/testing sound, some metal and a techno song. :bang: :bang: :xx:
does it open Cubase 3 projects?

15. What versions are compatible with what other versions of Cubase and Nuendo?

Cubase 5 and Cubase Studio 5 can open all project files from all Steinberg Cubase and Nuendo products* except versions 1. If there are specific features present only in the higher versions, only those features will not translate. For example, 5.1 surround will not work with a Cubase 5 project after it has been imported into Cubase Studio 5, which does not have surround capabilities. Go here for the Version Compatibility Chart

*Remember that we are referring here to entire Cubase project files (.cpr), which include plug-in information, automation, track presets, edits, and virtually everything you do in Cubase. However, a raw wave file (.wav) is just a wave file, and a MIDI file (.mid) is still just a MIDI file, and these can be imported into any version of Cubase or Nuendo from any version, even from Cubase 5 to Cubase LE.

I think so..

hey Zim - how big is the torrent on Demonoid - I'm at work & can't get to it.

I've seen on blogs it says it's a DVD ISO, is that right?

I downloaded version 4 a while ago and it was 100mb and runs perfectly... so I'm wondering how big this torrent is.

thanks

never understood why people use cubase when reaper is far better imo. in fact I'd have to say once they make some tiny changes to reaper (beat detective-type thing, making editing more seamless) then it will be an equal to protools

I agree, reaper is amazing and really small(the installer is like 4mb), its amazing how they cram all that functionality into such a small program. I don't miss anything from Cubase SX3 really save for a neater look on the VST plugin windows(ie: EZD's and Amplitube's windows take up a shit ton of space in reaper, SX3 made them cascade more cleanly and stuff). No audio scrub either, but everything else feels like Cubase to me.

Still, I have fond memories of SX3, so I downloaded cubase 5 to try it out. I'll do it in a few days after I format and install vista x64, need to get a working dvd drive... Anyone try cubase 5 on said OS yet?

So finally up and using it - but already found one thing that sucks (in previous versions, but not this one).

Importing your own quantized parts for MIDI.

Like i had all these humanizing quantize patterns that I'd put in when playing keyboard drums in and they'd get a good feel.

This function seems to be gone.

Anyone know how to?

This is what's gone (the import button):

and everyone talking about it.

I can't find anything on the web.

Zim or anyone: know how to import custom quantize parts or, at least groove quantize MIDI parts?

found my way to get around it.

I'll compose any of my midi programming in my old SX that way I can use the human quantize feels & stuff. Then do all the uber vsti/fx stuff in C5.

but discovered this piece of suck when looking for my wave plugins!!

No direct X! :frown:

EDIT: worked it out

CTRL+right-click, but i'd prefer this to also be visible... will see if i can get it to stay

Hey Zim

I've just started recording the demo gits (for you to re-do) for my remix/re-arrangement and have discovered that the right-click menu listing has gone.

In SX i used to right click an audio take and get a bunch of options, tools and the take choice.

You know how to quickly get it back ? (i had a look in prefs & options but couldn't see anything obvious).

If you need a screen shot i'll post some. :santa:

thanks

I found a way to change it back to the old way

go to Preferences / Edit / Tools, Popup toolbox on right click off and then on Apply and OK.
