MABB v6.6.6

Till now I was working with an Emu0404 pci card, and it's ok. But now I have a laptop too, and plus my school started to use PT instead of Nuendo/Cubase, so I need me some interface to use it in PT.





Seeing that PT is like some sort of standard nowadays, I want to enter that world. In the studio that I use to record bands I use their Project Mix plus some external preamps via spdif for tracking drums/gtrs/bass/..., so number of inputs is not the issue. I just want to have an interface with Midi input/output, 1 or 2 pre's for DI tracking, and that it's reliable.





After some research I've found that mbox2 is one of the possibilities. Oh, and I would use it in win7, but XP sp2 is also ok, if I must. Just want ok drivers.



Yeah, and I would like to use in in Cubendo also, because many people around here still use that as their primary sofware.



Thoughts?



We are talking ~300e budget here.

If you want to use/upgrade to ProTools 8, you'd need Vista or Windows 7.



PT 7.4 works fine too for XP, but I prefer 8 since it just has a greater work flow overall. At my intern place we even use PT TDM 6.9.2 in studio 1 (which is a predecessor of PT HD) and PT 5 in studio 2. Hopefully they're going to upgrade next summer.



An MBox 2 is a good choice, if you need midi. It's €349 here. With all those interfaces you can still use Nuendo, Cubase and other programs like it.

Well, I did say I would like to use it with Win7

I definitely need midi i/o, because I intend to use electronic drums from time to time, and trigger them with DFH Superior2 mostly, when drummers are weak or reallly inconsistent. Plus, of course, with midi keyboards. That's why I pretty much have thrown mbox2 mini out of the picture (no midi i/o).
