From another thread:
Hey, floyds suck.

the only reason i dont like them is because i cant play on them.

for some reason i just cant get the palm muting down.

I have no use for tremolos, and I do not like them They are a pain in the ass to set up and maintain.
let me get this out of the way :fuckoff:

I hear lots of people say that Floyds are a pain to setup and maintain. THEY AREN'T. Really, I haven't messed with my floyd in over 2 months, it's still in tune, intonation is fine, and plays fine, not to mention I abuse it. The only real setting up (I) do is when I change strings and if you know what you're doing you won't have a problem. Learning it might be frustrating but you get over that.

And trouble palm muting? How the do you have trouble muting? You lay your palm on the strings and mute the bastard! tbh I usually don't want to play a guitar that doesn't have a floyd.

I had one itty bitty problem with the Floyd on my Kramer. Other than that, it worked fine for me for many moons. People are just bitchy.

wtf is so hard about palm muting on floyded guitars??

i can understand why people don't like em, I like playing on both fixed and floyd guitars.

but i agree with zim, if u work with them a couple of times there's nothing wrong with it, as long as you know what you're doing.

its hard if you don't have the right amount of tension, and have a tendency to dig in with you palm as a picking pivot. but when i played a floyd alot i overcame it with practice, and of course tightened the spring tension. not really a big deal.

also you guys with the floyds, do you have the real one or the second hand one, and is there a big difference in quality?

lincensed floyds are just as good, but there is a big difference between the lo-pro edge 2's and the older models...

My ke3 has a Jackson licensed one (not low pro). Floyds are just lame. Kill sustain and tone all for what? The whole floyd wankery thing is wayyyyyy overdone.

I just have mine blocked (still goes out of tune every week). Next guitar for sure will not have any form of trem on it.

You have obviously never played a high quality trem, this Ibanez Edge simply doesn't go out of tune.

I know the OFR and Edge do not go out of tune as easily, but they are still floating, therefor a pain in the ass.
