really killer pickups at a great price



I have the Robusta Fat 50s single coils on my Strat, sounds damn good to me. really similar to the Fender fat 50s, but a little bit warmer.



$64 is insane for a set of handwound pickups. prices vary depending on materials used and wiring possibilities, but nothing is more than $120 a set.

single coils are the easiest pickups ever to wire, just a hot and a ground



these'll be two awesome sounding guitars when you're done

I didn't think so, it's nice to have both single coils and humbucker guitars available



I'm interested in trying some Rose humbuckers myself

now that I've gotten used to them, I can't stress that these are fantastic at any price



makes your Strat super versatile, from shred and thrash to blues or country or whatever



the bridge pickup sounds awesome with lots of gain, punchy and defined, yet thick. lots of thump like a humbucker, but has that single coil clarity.

I've actually begun to dislike really high output pickups, I feel lower output is more dynamic. You can always add more gain from your pedal or amp.



the Tr3y has always used PAF style humbuckers, and just listen to the monstrous tones he's achieved



now it makes sense why it was so hard for me to find high output humbuckers I liked, which were the Dimarzio Evolution, unusual clarity for high output.



I tried Dimarzio X2N, Duncan Distortion, Invader, screaming demon, Lawrence XL500, various EMGs, etc.



I think I couldn't find anything I like because of the compression and thus darker tonality of the high output pickups



not that there's anything wrong with high output pickups, just don't float my boat

I'm saving up for some black hawks. I agree with what you said about clarity, I'm getting fed up with how fat and fizzy my EMGs are. Need some glassy clear tones!!!

exactly, if one needs more gain, there's plenty of amps and pedals out there with tons of it on tap

single coils enjoy fuzz, as fuzzes were originally designed to give lots of bite and crunch to low output pickups (same reason you shouldn't put jet fuel in a sports car, you shouldn't use high output pickups with fuzz and expect good results). those Rose pickups seem to like everything you throw at them though, clean, distorted, fuzzy, etc

I used all the parts in mine, but mine is newer and the newer ones do have better quality parts than the old MIM Strats. new ones actually have a big block on the bridge as well.



it'll be a lot easier to wire with a new switch and pots though, you'll still have those little holes to hook the wires in

my cousin actually grabbed some rose singles and replaced his buckers with them, might wanna think it over a lot before you decide, since you already have a humbucker guitar. though, fat strats kick ass too *points at early Nile*

I forgot to ask, have you done the bridge pickup tone control mod? it's really easy, adds the middle pickup tone pot to the bridge pickup

Definitely want to pick up a single-coiler at next guitar purchase.

it's a small wire that you solder to two spots, easiest mod ever, but very useful to tame that bridge pickup
