What is this business? Will it be improved or a lesser reproduction?
I'd probably buy one if it doesn't end up a shadow of the original.

Ibanez UV70.
It's not a re-issue as such, more of a cheaper re-imagining. AANJ, 5-piece neck, Edge Zero II trem. These are the differences I can find.
I was all

at first...
But, dat price... cheaper than an older used UV7bk and won't have (potentially) 20+ years of abuse, in brand spanking condition.

Better link. I did not see that Premium above the Ibanez logo at first. That looks all kinds of cheap... I never liked Prestige, but that shit is worse. Premium

the only real problem is the bridge, one can go to places like IbanezRules.com to get parts as such
a proper reissue would have been nice

i'm guessing the premium tag means it isn't MIJ, seems a bit pricey

it would surely be a substantial upgrade over my 7321, and i do love the look of it... but i don't know if i could justify spending that much on a lower-grade model. for that kinda money i'd just as well stick with the cheapo 7 and spend a bit extra for something like the 3521GK.

nah, that's a 570 which i purchased back in '98. i bought the 7 back in 2005 or so i think, it's indonesian. i don't imagine any of the 7321's (outside of prototypes that were never offered for sale) were MIJ, and anyway i don't think that model even existed 15 years ago

the 550 with maple fretboard and nickel strings is an awesome combo
maple fretboards have a lot of punch

I consider said the most underrated of fretboards

I'm glad I have the original - still sounds great. Uni777 has a 7 string Prestige model, not sure which one, but recorded with it and it's also a very fine instrument. Great neck and pickups, very nice sound.
