Thinkng about buying my first guitar

Post by Phantoon »

I know fuck all about them really other than the most basic of bits and pieces. I'd like to know what you folk would consider a good starter model ?. I have a budget of about 500 English smackers :fonz:

moving from a garbage disposal back to the dumpster but it’s an improvement nonetheless

My recommendation would have been the same regardless of what you said really :redneck:

See if you can track down a Washburn X50. I've been playing one for years now and it's amazing, but more importantly it's also been discontinued for some reason. Most places are selling them brand new for under £500.

If you're a complete beginner don't plan on playing death metal (well) anytime soon. You could also check out local pawnshops. I bought my first guitar at walmart, then a more decent one from a pawnshop, and finally a jackson rr3 for $650 :gay:

Also, Line 6 amps are good for home use/beginners.

Yeah, Washburn make great guitars.

I have a Washburn X200 PRO-E I bought cheap (around $300) in local musicshop around here. Excellent guitar, it came stock with two EMGs.

For guitars, there are a ton of good ones in that range, just try out a ton and pick the one that feels most comfortable.

Amp-wise, imho for starting out get something like those small line 6 pocket pods, something with a lot of sounds that is cheap. Good learning tool and you can hook it up to any speakers/headphones and practice along with a mp3 player if you want. Most amps sound like ass with headphones.
