fuzz ftw



it's much more open and natural than distortion



it generally has more harmonics, it's heavier, and much more tonal character



I've often wondered why more metal guitarists haven't gotten in the know about fuzz, you can play any form of music with fuzz. anyone who disagrees with that, really doesn't know much about musical gear

try to find your own unique tones instead of mimicing "generic metal tone A or B"

i'd like to try out some fuzz. my line 6 amp reacts weird to pedals though

I have a smaller line 6 amp for practice stuffs, works pretty damn well with my pedals if you have it on the green clean setting



just keep in mind, if it's a fuzz face type pedal you'd do better with a hair of gain on the clean setting, probably more than half way up



there are actually plenty of tight fuzzes that excel for metal, but of course they're not just limited to metal

Only one I think I'd like. Sounds like a cool mellow laid back rock sound, with enough sustain for shred. But for metal, I like tight distortion, it feels good in the hands. I think I'm a bigger fan of a Marshally sound + OD pedal than a 5150 type thing, but then again I've never played the real deal so I'm not sure.



I bet that DM band Disma probably use a fuzz pedal, sounds like it to me.

i have a big muff pi with wicker switch, its fucking awful.

Treys live tone is pretty fuzzy, especially around formulas an heretic era

toozey, that's like the squire strat equivalent in the fuzz world



the new muffs are nothing like the old circuits in the rams head model (gilmour used this on the wall)



in fact, the dunlop fuzz faces and electroharmonix muffs are nothing like the circuits that produce the sounds that people desire



this is why boutique clones are usually the best route, there are plenty of downright tight and heavy fuzz pedals in the boutique market





lavagod, this is probably because tr3y used a proco rat as the boost for his jcm900, proco rat is a fuzzy distortion/od, and a killer pedal

Trey uses the rack version, which afaik is supposed to be the same as the "dual rat" pedal which is 2 rats in one, for stereo use or cascading. *shines Uni signal*

the best rat possible is the Mighty Mouse by BYOC (Build your Own Clone) it's like every rat imaginable in one pedal

earlier today, i finally had a chance to dick around with the super 8 bit fuzz that i've been harping on about in all the fuzz threads here. all kinds of awesome stuff going on there. the way the decay on it works, lower volumes drop the tone by one/two octaves if you set the stability knob in a certain way, so if you fuck around with picking dynamics you can get some pretty wild sounds out of it. it also does more traditional fuzz sounds as well if you're so inclined, it's quite impressive really. i'll definitely be ordering one in the next few months once funds allow
