EMGs,sexy body shape,no Floyd Rose - that's all i need!

Meh, an Ironbird without a floyd is like a bird without wings. I really dig the modern pro bird:







Paf pro in the bridge and that would be sweet. I loved how my old NJ sounded/felt with the paf pro and OFR, too bad the neck/frets played like crap.

The red one is cool though i hate the way they angled the grain of the headstock overlay. And i still think the Mark-I shape looks better.



A lot of the spalted Birds Pro are not that nice looking. And i have seen several with badly executed bursted edges. Personally i do not like the spalted head overlay with black logo. The white script logo on black looks better to me. I have the black one with the silver bevels mostly for that reason. I got it cause at the time i thought it would be nice for the collection to add a Mark II shape. I might have it repainted next year. Though IRL the bevel is not that ugly.



Price/quality wise it is pretty OK. I replaced the EMG for a dual-sound. Floyd works nice as do the tuners. And it is a very stable guitar. I wil not tune it lover than Eb due to the 24 3/4 cale lenght. The Korean deluxe series are cosmetically better looking though.



Out of all the imports i've owned or played the two Japanese IG-400 guitars i have are the best playing and sounding. Eventhough they are bolt-ons.

An American guitar is also an import for me as i am Dutch.



I've owned several US made guitars. Gibsons, Rich and Jackson. All good guitars but the Rich was the only one without cosmetic or practical issues. So far the best guitars i have (owned) are the custom made Dutch ones and the japanese guitars i have.



The Jackson had finish flaws ( runners in the clear coat), a locknut with to wide screw holes and went severely out of tune after locking the pads as the head angle and the lock-nut did not match up. Th e japanese Kevin Bond i have was a better guitar on all fronts. The Gibsons all had sub-par fret ends/work and several finish flaws. All fixable sans the paint flaws but on a guitar in that price range that should not be nessesary. None of the Ibanez guitars i have have these issues not even the indonesian Xiphos.



For less than the price of a US made guitar i can have a local luthier make me a guitar exactly to my specs with better quality woods than the standard production line quality of the afore mentioned guitars. Plus i can test it during the building stages.



I couldn't care less where a guitar is made as long as it is a solid instrument (and not fabricated by child labour). But i refuse to pay for Made in the USA on a guitar when the price/quality does not match up.

I have an Indonesian Ibanez RG with a fixed bridge and though I'm no expert on guitar craftsmanship, I don't see or notice anything particularly wrong with it, weakest link would be the pickups which I have changed to an EMG 81/85 set. It also plays very, very nice.
