Your choice of pick?

what brand of pick do you guitarists use?
The guys in Serious Beak (both) use Dunlop Jazz III.
I couldn't get over how small they are.
I had a go of it and it felt quite nice - ended up using it on the recording for a few sections where the producer said "try a pick for this part".
I use my fingers mostly, but do pull the pick out if the song/artist asks for it.
The lead guitarist said he likes the J3s mainly because it's really easy to do the "country chicken picking stuff" which he adds into our metal.
I use Fender Extra heavys, but now I'm thinking of changing to the J3s too.... but last night at practice I did suck a bit with the J3... just need more practice due to the size.
What you folks use?
(and out of curiosity, what does trey use?)

I play bass with my fingers but I use the Jazz IIIs for guitar. It's easy to play fast with it, and it's thick so when doing the palmuting you can get some extra fat out of it.

been using Jazz III's for a long time, the red ones
but recently switched to Jazz III Ultex, as it's supposed to simulate tortoise shell picks
I've played with some tortoise shell picks before, and these are really close,
though they wear down a tad bit quicker than the nylon ones, they have a bit more pop, and the edges are so smooth they just glide off the strings, not to mention they're quite stiff for their thickness

Doesn't Erik use the Jazz III-XL? Those are a bit bigger than the one in the picture. I use the XL too.

dunlop tortex and gator grips, ~1.4mm. those were the first picks i ever owned, and it's what i've stuck to throughout the years. quite similar to what trey uses

for bass, it's usually 90% fingers, 10% dunlop tortex 1.0s.
guitar, I alternate between the tortex 1.0s and the big stubby triangles (the thickest ones, the dark blue/almost purple ones.)

i like those grey dunlops with the grippy shit

The black jazz III's with the maxgrip are nice for leads and some rhythm . Dunlop tortex 1.14 are better for rhythm but not as good for leads. Dunlop sharpie or pointy tortex is probably the best for me but I use III's a lot

I highly suggest to anyone who likes the red or black Dunlop Jazz III's to check out the Ultex ones
they're the same size, but they have a bit more grip to them, and the feel and tone is quality
worth a look for Jazz III users

I have some of those jazz picks, don't like them.
I always use these two:

(3mm)
They don't bend at all, and the black one makes me play a lot more clean (Nile use those). 1.14s are good for rhythm and stuff but they bend too easily, can't use them for lead.

This has to be the, like, 50th thread asking what everyone uses for picks
I use the blue Tortex, but all this ejaculating over Jazz IIIs has me curious. I'll go grab a couple tomorrow at me local music shoppe and give them a whirl.

play with them for awhile before you make your final decision. it takes some time to get comfortable with the jazz IIIs.

Can I return it to the shop and get my quarter back if I have a negative final decision?

I have large hands and I like the Jazz III's
though I've used them for years
suppose it's all what you're used to

Been using these for the past month now (the 1.5mm extra heavy ones) and they seem to suit me better than the purple dunlop tortex 1.14s. They're now my new favorite pick although sometimes I go back to the 0.60mm tortex for alternative rock stuffs.

Jazz III's are my favourite. No 'clacking' soundlike most pics and they're great for acoustic playing too.

My picks of destiny (

) are:
- Dunlop Jazz III small black stiffo, really cool for shredding (the max grip carbon fiber one is also really cool for live use, when your hands sweat loads).
Generally, I find I'm using this one for most of everyday playing. Good compromise of attack vs speed;
- Purple Dunlop TIII for ballsy rhythms (it's a bit pointier, Jazz III XL-shaped version of good ol' Dunlop Tortex) - using it mainly for recording tasks. Somewhat harder for shredding, but provides killer attack for chugging;
- Dunlop Tortex Sharp 1.35mm - the same properties as the previous pick, except that it's even better for playing tiiight rhythm guitar parts;
In pics, that would be

They last long enough for mine playing. These on Elixir .56-.12 strings (and I'm not exactly gentle) have done quite nicely for three or four years now.
