fret hand exercises

For any of yinz that play guitar, do you have any techniques you use to individualize each finger on the fretting hand? I'm looking for some good exercises that basically help build up strength and make each finger it's own autonomous thingy. I haven't played in about two years until purchasing my new guitar a few months back and I'm just trying to get my chops up.

Thanks ladies :santa:

This is the basic idea, it's the same thing but over higher strings all the time. Pick all notes

In another forum one hard-on bearer wrote that he learned to use his left hand better after he had relearned to play solos without using forefinger.

So very this. Find patterns that feel weird as fuck and play them until they feel "normal"
and as boring as they are to use, metronomes will help so, so very much with things like this. i dig random finger exercises because you dont have to worry about playing a scale or being in key, it's just you and your guitar.
this

if you're ever going to take the time to sit down and do exercises never forget your metronome.

The pentatonic blues scale is a good one for working out the fingers.

I often do ones like Spirits of the Deep Waters posted too. Also instead of splitting up 1,2/3,4 try splitting it 1,3/2,4.

Just ideas.

Or instead of doing boring exercises that don't sound like anything, you could learn to play the intro to this song:

This.

Whatever you decide to practice, do it with a metronome and just drill a sense of rhythm into your head and hands. I wish I had known this earlier, I wouldn't be so sloppy.
