Floyd rose problems

Okey, so when I have tuned all strings in EBGDAEB and locked it, the high e suddenly turns up to G#

Did you lock the neck lockers? You can get the tuning to ok when the locks are open but to really use FR for dives etc you need to lock the neck locks.

Sounds like by tightening the locking pad you tune the string higher.

Is there a string bar behind the nut? If so, lower it so the string follows the curve of the lock-nut. Then when you tighten the pad it does not push the string dowm and tunes it up.

This wasn't the problem. Is there a possibilty that the strings are to thin?

Mmm, i doubt it... so it is perfectly tuned before locking the pads, and when locked it is higher in pitch?

When I have tuned everything up to the B string, the high E all of a sudden is G#

Okay, but is this before locking or after locking. I'm trying to understand the steps you follow to tune it. So i can figure out when the problem occurs.

*bridge floating or not

*how do you tune, i.e. low to high, high to low or outside to inside..? I tune my 7s outside to inside: high e , low b, high b, low e etc. constantly going back to the string i tuned earlier.

On guitars without a tremsetter i block the bridge in the correct position. Tune, lock pads, remove block and then it is 99% in tune, so there is not much correction needed with the fine tuners.

It's a Ibanez RG7620. It doesn't matter how i tune it, i've tried alot of diffrent ways but they will always go up one half note, And it doesn't matter if I tune the down again, when I've tuned the final string, they're up one half note again...

Did you adjust the small sliding things on which you lock your strings on the floyd end?

As soon as my RG420 comes in, I'll be adjusting the tuning from (assuming it is in standard) E down to C and returning my older RG170 to E from C.

That's logical. Every adjustment on one string has a effect on the other ones. BTW NEVER tune a sting down to pitch always up.



Try this:

turn the two screws in the back of the guitar a little too tight.

Then make a little wedge from cardboard, or take a small eraser or battery or whatever you have lying around. And put this under the floyd in the rescess so that the floyd is perfectly parallel with the body. You should be able to tune the guitar very easy as the blocking will make the tension differences on the springs non existing.

Now lock the locknut pads. The guitar should be in perfect tuning. If not there is something wrong at the locknut side. If it is, take away the wedge from under the trem. The trem will fall back a little as you overtightend the two srews a little. Now, while ringing the low B and high e (not simultaneously ofc.) and looking at your tuner loosen the two srews until the B and E string are in tune. The whole guitar should be in tune now.



When tuning in the future all you have to do is block the trem at the same point with the same wedge you used this time. Tune, lock, remove wedge and you should be good.

I make those wedges out of those sticks to stir paint with. I saw of a little piece, wrap gaffa (duck) tape around it until it is thick enough.
