...Metallica's black album!

:heyyryan:

one of the heaviest songs of all time

Say what you want but you can't deny this record's overall influence...hell, I'd vouch for it being the most influential metal album of all time. A lot of you probably became metalheads (and even just plain music fans) because of this record...I know I did. I will always love this record, no matter what.

Its quite remarkable that the same band has one of the worst drumsounds as well as the best one on their track record.

i don't know if i'd call it influential musically, but i definitely wouldn't deny that it had a pretty big impact on a lot of us that were just starting to get into music around the time it came out. i can say without question that was the album that first got me interested in metal (along with GNR's appetite for destruction), it was given to me as a birthday present in the 4th grade. metallica quickly became one of my favorites and probably the first band where i actively sought out the older albums, i think i owned everything by the time i was finished with 5th grade.

The thing with this album is (probably the same with everything that they released throughout their career) that with Metallica, you either love them and consider them to be a huge influence on you and your entire musical taste...or you just became musically aware around the time from Load to St. Anger and would consider them as just an inferior commercial band that sucks MTV dick throughout.

Basically, I'm proud to be part of the latter crowd. :bang:

I agree that this album has been one of the most influential albums for me. It was the first metal album I have ever heard back in 1st grade.

And like Stormy said, this is one of the first albums that started me on the path towards metal.

coincidently I jammed this the other day.

Some of it I love, and some I don't.

"Sad But True" is one of my favs + others that escape my memory.
