MAYHEM Successfully Enters U.S. Ahead Of 'Blackenedfest' Launch

Thunderdome Touring has confirmed that all members of legendary black metal band MAYHEM have successfully entered the U.S. this afternoon and are currently in New Jersey preparing for pre-production for their headlining tour as part of Blackenedfest.

"We had no problems whatsoever with immigration, and now we are very excited to de-consecrate the USA again after a decade of decay since our last tour here!" stated vocalist Attila Csihar. "Prepare to prove the falseness of all religions and inventing the order of pure fucking chaos! There is NO god but Mayhem!!"

Blackenedfest begins Thursday, May 21 in New Yor kCity and also features Swedish black metallers MARDUK, along with CEPHALIC CARNAGE, CATTLE DECAPITATION and WITHERED.

MAYHEM recently announced the addition of French guitarist Silmaeth (ex-VORKREIST) to the group's touring lineup. He said in a statement, "It's a great honor for me to join such a legend. My experience with MAYHEM has been extremely positive so far. Within the band, we all have a very good feeling about this new lineup, as the songs have become more solid and intense now with the addition of a second guitar."

MAYHEM's current live formation is as follows:

Attila Csihar: Vocals

Necrobutcher (a.k.a. Jørn Stubberud): Bass

Hellhammer (a.k.a. Jan Axel Blomberg): Drums

Morfeus (a.k.a. Krister Dreyer): Guitar

Silmaeth: Guitar

Ha!! I've played there. That place is goat scrote central; the stage is beyond tiny, and the venue is in a gang neighborhood. A hard-on bearer was beaten to death the night after we last played there.

but then i'd have to sit through cattle decapitation and marduk, both of which i've heard and seen in the past and neither of which i care for. cephalic carnage was actually pretty fun to watch when i saw them open for... uh... deeds of flesh maybe? but it's not enough of a draw to sit through any of the other sets.

mayhem was pretty awesome, not good enough to top the show i saw in 2000, but very close. only thing holding it back i think was ground zero's god-awful sound system for the small stage. they did a couple songs off ordo ad chao, which didn't translate very well (again, due to the horrid sound), but they largely stuck to GDoW and previous albums. they even did the title track off de mysteriis, which was probably my favorite out of their set.

i missed all of the openers that were actually on the tour (and marduk wasn't at tonight's show for whatever reason) but i did have to suffer through a couple local sets. one of them was this absolutely hysterical act, apocalyptic visions -- who played just really, really sloppy, on top of being completely uninteresting musically to start. they did two sets for some reason, one before mayhem, and one during mayhem's set on the alternate stage. the only thing entertaining about them was the vocalist attempting to hurl black metal insults at the crowd between every song :redneck:
