For years, my favorite Immo record has always been CTAWB and my favorite song there was 'Lost Passion'. That changed when they released Shadows...it's been my favorite Immo record ever since.

leaning towards failures, but this is one of the most difficult favorites to pick

I went for Here In After because it's the first Immolation album I heard. At a young age and just getting into death metal, it blew me away immediately.
Close to a World Below is my second pick.

I never gave Harnessing Ruin a chance. Maybe I'll give it a spin one of these days.

Either way, it's a fantastic album. You really can't go wrong with any of their first four or five albums.

hardly. at the very least, they're equal but Failures has the superior guitar tone.
although it makes me wonder, how many people dismissed the masterpiece that is FFG just because the majority of the reviews like to, falsely, accuse the album of having "bad production"? i have frequently seen/heard people refer to FFG as Immolation's "Breeding the Spawn". and i also wonder, how many of those reviewers have ears? seriously, the only thing wrong with FFG's production is the kick-drum and that's hardly a deal-breaker
oh, and i'd kill for a shirt with FFG artwork

Fuckin' awesome band! If I had to choose bands that define Death Metal, this band would be on top of my choices! Great vocals, great riffs, great leads, awesome drumming... Great band in general!
My album would be Close to a World Below

Close To A World Below, followed really really closely by Failures For Gods. I rate all their records though.
I saw Immolation live the other week, it was just riduclous a band could be that good!
