i'm kicking this thread off with a few examples for the retards who are afraid morbid angel is about to start cranking out generic dance club hits because trey has mentioned an interest in electronic music. feel free to discuss and add examples of any kind of electronic music you find enjoyable.

I am inclined to mention NIN's entire catalog but then again I realized that there's quite a huge bunch of MABBers that are NIN fans.

Tangerine Dream,Kraftwerk (GER) and Rockets (FRA) were amazing electronic bands in the 70's.

not really electronic, but check out trent reznor and his wifes new project. I dig it, has a bit of a NIN vibe, mellow...

placing lustmord at the top of the list was a tactical decision, apparently one that paid off

so what's it matter if it's easy to make? tons and tons of metal music is easy to make too, that doesn't diminish its value.

I have done it,I wouldn't say better though. You could do it.It's easy.I'll upload something soon for yas.

@hard-on bearer.I don't tend to like music that is easy to make due to the fact I could make it whenever I want to.Not to sound like an arsehole but that's just how it is.I did like that one track however.

I could grab a guitar, learn a few power chords, and play shit ass death metal. By definition, that would be easy. Without regard for quality, any music can be called easy to make. It takes a special kind of creativity to make things like electronic music, noise and tape looping sound interesting outside of what we perceive to be "normal" song structures.

it's one thing to have the mechanical ability/production know-how, and entirely another to have the vision, creativity and execution. there's a lot of shit i 'could' do too; i'm capable of manipulating a computer and synthesizers and effects (and sometimes, i do). it's kind of a leap for either of us to conclude that because we possess some rudimentary ability, we could crank out something on the caliber of venetian snares or aphex twin.

bands like necrophagist or obscura have the raw playing ability that all the legendary death metal acts had, and yet they'll never craft so much as a memorable verse, let alone a worthwhile album that anyone will give a shit about ten years from now.

just because some music is simple is no reason not to like it

listen to day of suffering, smashing fucking song and i think it is one of ma's most simple songs.

why do you bring up these bands?

easy targets! they're hip and popular and terrible, perfect examples that ability and quality are not in any way synonymous. i take shots at them whenever i can, sometimes its topical, sometimes its a stretch. that might be the case here, oh well.

my motivation in using that example specifically was to point out that, just as easy doesn't mean bad, hard doesn't mean good either.

tl;dr difficulty is a useless criterion for judging quality

I sort of worded that wrong in the first place.Didn't mean to say I dislike all music that is easy to create.
