the long and short of it is i have listened to very little music, period, over the last three or so years

and not too terribly much new music for the let's say five-ish years before that

so i am way the fuck behind in my knowledge of good times, in terms of musical vibe

so tell me what things i should listen to. of these vibes

recommend me, FUCKERS

trying to think of newer bands that maybe you missed - seen all these fucks live as well:

Frozen Soul (heavy Bolt Thrower influence, older track but all of their stuff is solid)

Sanguisugabogg (new album is fucking killer and shows tremendous growth as a band)

Fulci (Italian DM, incredible band who has blown up the last couple of years)

Crypta (Brazilian Death Metal)

Blackbraid (native american BM, heavy bathory influence)

Spiritworld ("death western" - yes, it's a gimmick but they kick ass)

Upon Stone (Cali melo-deth, very 90's)

hmm some notables over the last five-odd years, let's see

kayo dot - every rock, every half-truth under reason & moss grew on the swords and plowshares alike
tim hecker - no highs
the mars volta - lucro suico, los ojos del vacio
extra life - the sacred vowel & secular works vol 2
molchat doma - belaya polosa
the cure - songs of a lost world
swans - birthing & the beggar
dodheimsgard - black medium current
current 93 - if a city is set upon a hill
the ruins of beverast - the thule grimoires
ulver - flowers of evil

i actually saw frozen soul a few years ago when they opened for napalm death, they were

to fuck. got to talk with their singer a bit as well, he is a very cool duder

these other folks i do not know and so i will educate myself

well they are great even if not a great time

also the new yellow eyes from last year was great too. not a lot of good things coming out of the black metal world anymore, but that along with the aforementioned new DHG are among them
