I avoided them like the plague when they were on the rise.

That era was particularly bad. They call it 'metalcore' but it's really just emo kids trying to do metal. Also those lame bands using phrases for names - I still can't for the life of me understand wanting to form a metal band with names like 'Bullet for my valentine', 'As I lay dying', 'As blood runs black' ::::::
