Nile hasn't had a solidly produced album since 2009. Karl now does producing and recording duties at home. Badly needs to hire someone because he can't produce or mix for shit.

Yup. I know they’ve had a lot of line up changes over the years but there was a noticeable dip in quality after Dallas.
The quality drop was there with Dallas as well. Sethu and the one after were dire albums.

its really just the first three for me and out of that mostly the first two aotw gets high praise all these years later but i haven't felt compelled to go back to it in a long ass time

Annihilation is fantastic. Took me a while to get into it fully after the brilliant Shrines, but I consider it one of their top albums.

They just weren't able to capture that feel and atmosphere again. It's my favourite Nile as well.

i think it's a great album and obviously more mature than black seeds or catacombs, but the latter especially has a huge pull for me because it was such a formative album for me. nile was the first death metal band i saw live which instantly switched me on to the genre, and catacombs was the first DM album i owned shortly afterward
