he obviously had a hand in a huge number of notable releases, but i actually had no idea he recorded joanna newsom's ys or godspeed's uxo, albums i've listened to dozens if not hundreds of times over the years. new mono coming up in a month or so is gonna be real bittersweet, i guess that's gotta be one of his final recordings

yeah, he did pretty much all of their major releases outside the first handful. he was also responsible for the entirety of neurosis' post-TSIB run!
pretty interesting to contrast against butch vig, who similarly made a name for himself as a producer through being attached to nirvana. his output in that capacity afterward was practically nonexistent by comparison, doubtless because he's been able to coast off nevermind royalties (and most of the bands he worked with afterward were bigger established acts and household names). albini famously refused to take points on any of his recordings, and accordingly made up for that by churning out a mind-boggling number of recordings.
