i guess it's probably the new dodheimsgard though, not much else that i really dug on this year. thantifaxath was great too but i haven't listened to it in months now

I dig the thanafaxath when it was released but didn’t find myself wanting to go back to it. Gave it another spin over the weekend. Didn’t move me much. Black Medium Current was a looong album. I dug it but there’s a lot to absorb. Needs more spins in the new year.

i dunno, maybe there's something a bit more original lurking in there, but 'literalist worship of famous band's nonessential mid-career sound' is a combination of confusing and tedious that i couldn't work up the will to overcome

That totally read like Jordan Peterson talking about music.

i mean if i'm wrong and there's something more substantial than "dude, have you ever heard SONS OF NORTHERN DARKNESS? you gotta check this out, some trust fund kid in LA made it again!" that i'm missing i would genuinely love to hear about it! but this seems like example 500,000 of bandcamp's metal editors elevating club circuit runoff because they lack object permanence or like, even a cursory familiarity with the broader sweep of the music they're being paid to promote
