They are fucking old. Expect more heavy bands do start doing this.

I will say I saw Sepultura and Cavelera this year and honestly Sep was so much fucking better it wasn’t even close - and that’s with Max and co doing a nostalgia set.

i'd rather see guys start retiring than grow old on the stage

yeah good for them honestly. they helped lay the foundation for death metal, their debut is nearly 40 years old now, and they've been touring for most of the intervening years. it's a grueling lifestyle, and very few of those bands have enjoyed the kind of consistent success that is conducive to a proper retirement. more power to 'em - i hope they're able to enjoy their later years in comfort and security.
