saw meshuggah last night
to the surprise of absolutely no one, they ruled
i don't care much for in flames but they put on a good show and were enjoyable
torche i saw live ages ago and didn't think much of but they were surprisingly crushingly great, and then this morning i found out that apparently this was their last show ever?
also there was a cop there with his family and apparently they don't go to metal shows because he spent the show on the barricade trying to protect his wife from the crush of the crowd and glaring at anyone who dared bump into him. neither of them looked happy and he looked over his shoulder pretty much the entire time but they stayed up front? at one point he tried to have security pull me out of the crowd because i had the audacity to push up against him and his son, but fortunately logic somewhat prevailed when i explained to the guard that i could not press back against the 1500 people on the floor all by myself
all in all a ludicrous night

Re: saw meshuggah last night
the first four songs all went one right into the next with basically no pauses, it was a breathless time
born in dissonance got a huge reaction & massive pit, kind of surprised by that actually

also i will say my crowd-neighbors were also very obnoxious, but they can't hold a candle to crowdcop. vice squad should not be allowed to attend events of any kind, imo

Re: saw meshuggah last night
i didn't know he was a cop until almost the end, i thought he was just super protective of his wife & had wicked unrealistic expectations of crowd behavior at a meshuggah show. then when he tried to have the security guard yank me over the rail & i explained what was actually happening the guard said "that hard-on bearer's a cop, you'd better back up"

yes sir that is a reasonable request, me and a thousand other dudes will all politely back up and calm ourselves to avoid further spoiling this very special boy's big night out
at that point why aren't they hauling him over so he can just watch from the photo pit for the whole show

Steve announced that he was out after this tour and the rest of the band agreed not to carry on without him.happiness and harmony wrote: ↑17 Oct 2022, 19:25torche i saw live ages ago and didn't think much of but they were surprisingly crushingly great, and then this morning i found out that apparently this was their last show ever?

Re: saw meshuggah last night
it tickles me that this obscure-ass band of swedes i've been listening to for 23 years and who are now fucking old have gone from not being able to string together four headline dates on this side of the atlantic to selling out 2500+ seat theaters coast-to-coast
