I believe caco (kakos) is Hellenic for 'evil, malicious'. Demon/daemon/daimon simply means 'spirit'. A Cacodemon's counterpart is an agathodemon/agathodaimon, 'good spirit'.



This makes it very amusing that caco is a fruit, considering Italy's Roman Catholic influences (Eden reference?). Marco, a caco wouldn't by chance, be a member of the pome family, would it?

you are correct on all counts, sir

I looked into it further. A caco is a persimmon. the persimmon is of the tree genus Diospyros, which is, "fruit of the gods" in Hellenic. The interesting bit is only an anecdotal parcel. They aren't even in the same division of the Plantae kingdom. Persimmon is Angiosperms > Eudicots > Asterids > Ericales > Ebenaceae > Diospyros; while pomes are Magnoliophyta > Magnoliopsida > Rosales > Rosaceae > Maloideae.
