Show last night

Scale the Summit (missed them, i'm sure they were boring)
The Devin Townsend Project - Walked in as they were playing "Disruptr" I've never really listened to TD but it was a really energetic show, he has some intense facial expressions.

I almost didn't recognize him sense he shaved his head.
Cynic - Amazing performance, we even got a free yoga lesson. I filmed the whole set and I'll upload it later.
BTBAM - The crowd went crazy, they put on a really good show. Every song was like 10 minutes long though.

Paul Masvidal does seem like the kind of person who would do that.

I wasn't necessarily making a dig at Mr Masvidal. I don't actually know what yoga is exactly.
I just imagine he would be the sort of person who would do it.

Those damn robot vocals still irritate the hell out of me.

I wanted to give the band a chance but couldn't get passed the "robot vocals".

i think most people use that to cover up that they can't actually sing but paul can't sing just fine without it

i believe he is referring to a vocoder, not the dreaded T-Pain effect

caught this show in Atlanta. it was awesome. all the bands were great.
Scale the Summit were actually really good - instrumental prog metal. great opener and great musicians
Devin Townsend was the shit! the only thing that sucked is that his laptop fucked up halfway thru the set, so the rest of the songs he used his click track
cynic were awesome, but I feel like they would have been way cooler to see in a smaller setting. like just a few hundred peeps....not over a thousand.
between the buried and me were actually really good. I don't care what people may think about them, they are excellent musicians and write some cool songs. the new album is awesome.

I disagree. it's not like focus for sure, but it's an excellent album. I find you have to be in the right mindset to really get it. I've listened to it a few times while laying in bed, and have gone to sleep (not because it was boring, it was just that good!) and the next day I'll have those songs stuck in my head all day. they were really good live even though they fucked up a few times because they were all very high on weed (they admitted this after a couple of songs)

All I know is Disruptr was playing as we were walking in, I had to look it up. I could hear him shouting something about the universe.
but other than that not sure
and thank you for understanding johnny you sweetheart

this is what he played in Atlanta:
1. Disruptr
2. Supercrush!
3. Kingdom
4. Truth
5. By Your Command
short 30 minute set but totally worth it. I talked to Devin's drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen after the show. they said they'll be doing a headlining North American tour after they come back from Australia. the current tour is just a warm up for them. they said next time they will bring a full band (a keyboardist and a small choir to sing all the backup vocals and maybe even a female vocalist or possibly even Anneke van Giersbergen)

I agree with that, and I will also add that I really digged it at first, then it got kinda boring and samey to me, but upon further listening the individual songs started to stick out more...i actually prefer the more recent record.
