Master Of Puppets is one of the greatest albums ever in any genre. This whole talk of how overrated different albums are is a bit silly.

i feel relieved that you discern between those two concepts. on that note, pretty much every album in the history of the universe has probably been overrated at some point. its called geeky hyper music fan-ism. and i've spent years doing so. it seems like every time a band forms a fan-base or following, you could say they become "hyped" and "overrated."

with all the 60/70's bands that people like to slate/poo poo it's important to remember them in context and with one important word in mind...

PIONEERS.

Beatles - I'm not a fan BUT they opened doors

Stones - Not the most original outfit as far as varied catalogue goes BUT they opened doors

etc...etc...etc...

in those defining decades there were merely hundreds of bands and ensuing bandwagons. today there are hundreds of bandwagons, leading to a saturation point of untold SHIT pointless copy bands.

ie:- Morbid Angel - pioneers in thier heyday - now with a million carbon copy/worship bands that are signed, touring and enjoying press coverage.
