What I mean about "hitting a music wall" is this, when you stop and start to lose the feeling of hearing new music. Even with the stuff you already listen to, you just lost the feeling you had for it.



This has been the case with me.



I seem to lost the feel of the music that I love. All the bands my friends been showing me, on paper, should be something I would tend to fall for right away. But I'm not. All the death metal, black metal, doom, gothic metal, industrial, hip hop, you name it. ANYTHING. I just can't seem to get into. And even with the bands I love so dearly, I don't have the same emotional connection as I used to. The Gathering and Devin Townsend doesn't hit me anymore like it used to, and I'm not talking about their new stuff, but all of their stuff that I fell in love with. Even Novembre doesn't do this to me! I don't have the emotional connection anymore that made these bands my favourites. I ran into a wall.



This is where I'm getting at, have any of you ever had this happened before? And any solution?

Hmm, I think that your emotional status has probably changed deep within. If none of your favorite music is doing anything for you anymore you need to find something that will. maybe it's something only you can express?



The only advice I can think of is to go ahead and just not listen to any of that stuff for awhile and if when you come back to it you're still not feeling it give it some more time off.

i'm the same way too, but not with too many bands, like in your situation. i suggest going more evil with your music

Although I do have a rule of thumb that I will definitely listen to ANYTHING that I hear that I like, I think I have come across something like your music wall thingy when it comes to new music...even with some of those recent releases by my favorite bands. At first I thought it's just me refusing to appreciate any new stuff coming out because of my specific 80s/gloryhole era music taste but then I realized I just lost the feeling for anything new nowadays.



However, this doesn't mean that I confine myself to just a specific area of music. I mean, my playlist right now includes Vivaldi, White Zombie, Spandau Ballet, Aborted and the background music of games such as Chrono Trigger and The Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind...just to name a few.

this has happened to me several times before, the best advice i can give you is to start listening to a lot of music you wouldn't normally listen to and eventually youll start appreciating some of the old tunes you used to dig so considerably, though not all of them, its natural for your tastes to change after a while.

and if you haven't seen that go watch it right now! you will jizz everywhere!!

It's easily the most greatest best concert dvd I've seen.

never saw the DVD, but i have the audio. i guess it's on that.

I'm actually about to head out shopping & will see if it's in the store

It's in a box with a Black Album Tour Concert DVD and some audio concerts.

I just jam what I feel like jamming.



but I've gone through something similar. I've gotten bored with tech death. Been listening to alot of old school dm. Or new bands in the same vein of. Other than that, I usually jam some psychobilly, or some post- stuffs. No matter what, I never leave my ol' lady in charge of the fucking musics, cause she listens to country music, and that, I just cannot do.
