Winds of creation by Decapitated is pretty accessible.

As is a lot of Vader.

Carcass - Heartwork (maybe even swansong, but i can't stand it and do not consider it death metal )



some Hypocrisy, maybe (Abducted and later)?



some of the more "rocking" swedeath albums like Wolverine Blues or Massive Killing Capacity



later era Death (Symoblic and TSOP) if wanking isn't a problem



as for the intro->blast thing, ever tried Behemoth - Decade of Therion?

just about anything from Morbid Angel.





bands like Vader are good if the person is already into thrash metal.

death metal should not be accessible. But violent,heavy and satanic. This is the music to invoke Shub Niggurath, not music to invoke fucking pussies

heartwork i think is a great example of accessible death metal, but only if we're being really, really loose with the concept of accessibility.



you need more than catchiness for mass appeal, and the basic style/aesthetic of death metal pretty much guarantees that anything resembling DM is automatically disqualified from being accessible.

the first thing i hear from anyone/everyone when introducing them to death metal is that they think it all sounds the same.

The Haunted are pretty fucking accessable.

The road to Death Metal is paved with Slayer.

i'm listening to despise the sun for the first time,and its very accessible, especially catatonia. this album is fucking blowing me away. the production is masterful. pretty excited about it. and btw...accessible means objectively awesome.

your definition of accessible is poor, but despise the sun is pretty goddamned awesome nonetheless. it's no pierced, but it still beats the pants off any of the reunion material!

yah i know, i wasn't being serious. i agree more with your definition. but, when it comes to sharing death metal with your ill grandmother, there is no such thing as accessible death metal.
