[quote name="KarlSanders"]OK .
Over the weekend Dallas George and I made a final decision .
After careful consideration of all the amazing applicants ,
We have decided to rehire Chris Lollis, who also re-auditioned.
The issues with Chris that had led to his dismissal
were completely non-musical ,
and recently Chris had went to great effort to make things right with us .
He also reauditioned , which was quite unexpected .
The decision process really came down to the fact that
Chris could play the song as tight and clean and locked down as any of the best applicants - had the general right attitude, has vocal skills ,
stage presence , considerable experience ,knows our entire set list backwards and forwards , looks right for the job ,sent his video to the right place 8)
and in all other ways had all the angles covered .
PLUS , he lives here locally already . When we put everybody up on the chaulkboard , Chris had checkmarks and pluses in every column .
I also would like to let people know that we had quite a few simply AMAZING bassists who sent in auditions-
guys who could not only play the bass parts but also LOCK them dead in the pocket .
Some of the applicants , while having obviously learned the song , lost points for not being able to stay in the groove .
Timing is everything in a bass player , so that really weighed heavily in our consideration.
Amusingly , it was obvious about half of the applicants learned the song from the exact same internet tab........ and made the EXACT same lttle mistakes ....
very charming. There were some applicants that took it upon themselves to change the bass riffs , or add in their own bass licks / ideas / solo spots ;
something we werent really looking for at all.
All in all, though , I was amazed at the exceptional skill level of most of the people who sent in videos , there were some very professional submissions .
I really want to extend my public appreciation for everyone who took the time to learn a tough song , make a video , and send it in to us.
Thank you !
