NILE - NEW ALBUM ARTWORK + TRACK LISTING REVEALED

Image

The reigning kings of technical, historically-themed brutality, NILE, have revealed the track listing and artwork for their latest state-of-the-death-metal-art release Those Whom the Gods Detest.

Produced and mixed by Neil Kernon (NEVERMORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, QUEENSRYCHE), along with a stellar drum recording job by Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, VITAL REMAINS, GOATWHORE), Those Whom the Gods Detest features the bands strongest production and perhaps their best material to date!

The cover artwork was brought to realization this time around by Michal "Xaay" Loranc, whom Karl Sander’s had previously worked with on his 2nd solo record Saurian Exorcisms.

Decent art this time around. If this leaks, someone let me know. The way Nile's albums have been not-quite-BSoV-or-AtCoNK lately makes me really want to preview it before buying it.

i only visit the death metal forum over there, and there are only a couple of people that don't really like this album that much, but they weren't really vocal about it.

anyway, i agree with some peeps over there that some of the riffs sound rehashed, but overall i enjoy the album much much much more than Ithyphallic, i may like it more than ITTS after 5-10 more spins, and i'd like it more than BSOV if it had a song like To Dream of UR :xx:

People who listen to this album and don't go "DAMN." should probably be stabbed :fuckoff: . It's what AotW and Ithyphallic were not (imo).

Overall, for now, it feels like a sincere album. I also like this somewhat vintage-y sound. Maybe it has some rehashed stuff going on from time to time ( it's not "original"), but after this few listens I can say I like the atmosphere, and it feels a lot more solid as a whole than their 2 previous outputs.

Nope. This is the only metal forum I post on regularly. Every other metal board seems retarded. They all seem to hate pirating, so fuck em. Plus I try not to spend much time on the internet anymore. :santa:

EDIT: This album is awesome.

This album is their best since shrines. So much better than Ithyphllic.

The production is absolutely ball-crunching.

NIce to have some audible bass. The leads are amazing as usual as are the riffs. I'm stunned.

i agree, i think it's becoming a new trend to get an 8 string guitar and tune it as low as possible. :necro:

I tuned mine so low the strings are all flaccid and bendy. It produces subsonic vibrational forms which move me to my core very deeply. I have also moved two people to tears and three to orgasm.

it's not instantly heavier if you tune down.

it's not instantly more fruital if you play it at 160bpm plus.

that is science and athletics and should be left to scientists and athletes. Music is meant to be made by musicians who can evoke the heaviest and most fruital atmospheres with skill and talent.

Because we measure range generally by lowest note in the bass family. A Contra bass is a contra bass because of how low it goes. An 8 string guitar is essentially a contra bass.

yeah cos playing in G on a baritone guitar, and playing the open G on a standard-tuned bass definitely results in the same tonal properties.
