it's the same with any other super-showy tech band. there's really no point to it once you get tired of the whole 'hey! look what i can do!' bit

I really like tech death metal but you can get tired of it a lot faster than other music



like if necrophagist had more slower parts i would love them 10x more

this is usually the response to tech-dm. i really don't think most bands play technical music just to show off their skill. i'm sure it's natural for a lot of people to want to play technical, it can be fun to play and produce such a crazy chaotic sound while being really controlled.



it's just a matter of if the music has any feeling to it. i,e, i think necrophagist produce a dark feeling while i think psycroptic don't have any at all. and really it's all personal taste and opinion

there's a few tech bands that I still dig, but not many.

I appreciate the tech & musicianship but it's boring.

Like 2 Aussie tech bands who i've seen live & dug, but next time I saw them bored me to tears - Flesh Mechanic & Devolved.



I think I enjoy the 'chaotic-tech', to the 'tech-tech'.

For example, say earlyish Dillinger (it was more tech-hardcore) - it's tech, but has balls and a soul behind it.

Where as B...TA are just tech-tech, no soul or balls.



I guess it's like fusion - some fusion is just horrible & has no soul, but then you get someone like Scott Henderson who has the shred & tech of all them guys, but the soul of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
