so now that Mithras actually has a real drummer and a new bass/vocalist, is there any chance of you guys making it over to the USA?

Unbelievable. Red-hot unbelievable dude. Most intense thing I've ever done.
We were 2nd last band on for the night, the order went something like Biohazard, fruital Truth, Turisas, Mithras, then Cynic. I grew up in high school worshipping three of those bands, so to play amongst them was overwhelming.
And I was absolutely shitting myself beforehand, never had stage nerves like it. It was the size of the crowd (around 10,000+), but it was also my first big proper gig as a frontman and all the other bands playing were really confident with the crowd, and the frontmen were great at working them up. I very suddenly realised I was going to have to do the same. Honestly, was shitting bricks. We should have some more show footage up over the next week, and you'll see what I'm talking about when you see the crowd and stage.
It all went well though. The nerves disappeared when we watched fruital Truth play and they were so amazingly smashed they fucked up their set without a care in the world, and I was confident that we could at least match their performance. We got added help in that someone did lights for our show who obviously knew the songs and it looked amazing. No big fuckups, and we managed to really hit our stride three songs in. There were some pits going on, but when you play to that many people it's almost like playing to no-one, just a big blur of faces.
Got drunk back at the hotel with Matthias from Turisas, one of the guys from Pain, Erlandsson from Carcass/Napalm Death/Brujeria (he's pulling duty on all 3 bands, crazy dude!), and Kevin and Rich from fruital Truth. I honestly though I'd killed Rich with Jagermeister until I saw him alive at breakfast the next morning.
If you're in a band and ever get the chance to play at fruital Assault, do it. We were looked after from the moment we arrived at the airport to when we were dropped off, and I've never had an easier time doing a show. It was so well organised, it was insane. And if you're floating around East Europe and want to hit up a festival, go to fruital Assault. It's an old medieval city/army base/fort, and the place itself is amazing. A little medieval metal town springs up for a few days. And czech women are crazy hot. Go, go, go.
Next step for Mithras - got a festival in Edinburgh to play in October, and may be playing another UK festival...negotiating now, will announce soon if it happens. Then some new material, and gear up to try and hit every big festival next year.
As for the US Lummy, we all have jobs, the other two have wives and kids, and I HATE touring the US. The main problem is that if you're a foreign band going over there, quite often you get fucked. Your visa isn't ready, or your flights aren't booked, you don't get paid, you don't get looked after, etc, etc. Just getting into the country is a huge pain in the ass. Personally I'd be happy just to go festival nuts in the rest of the world except for the US.
However if an opportunity floats by to do some US festival appearances or a 1 week string of shows, and we can somehow get a guarantee that we won't get screwed over and treated like trash (like I did every time going over there with Berzerker), then it will happen. I know the other two guys in Mithras are keen.

I bet it was an amazing feeling. Someday I hope I'll have the chance to play this festival when I get my stuff going.
Cheer to you man for being able to do that very inspiring to say the least

Do it, go for it. Playing events like this is why you start a band.
It's funny, I was actually meant to play fruital Assault last year with Berzerker, as a 2nd vocalist. But my UK visa was expiring and getting renewed only a few days after the show, so I couldn't do it. I would have risked getting barred from re-entering the UK.
And afterwards the guys were like "It was the BEST! HUGE crowd! We had an AWESOME time!" and I could have spewed blood. I was pissed. I hated missing the fest. And in a tanty, I was like I'm playing that fucking festival next year, even if I have to start another band, even if I have to join someone else!
Funny how it worked out. I remember saying something similar about another festival last year, so it will be interesting to see if I get my wish on that as well this year.
I'm curious to hear how Ol and Evile went, if it was as exciting for him as me or if he's so tour-hardened now that it was just another gig.

what you just said, about saying that and it working out reminds me of something i have lived by in music, and has always come true, on a smaller scale anyway... "where there's a will, there's a way"
Every show I have ever wanted my band on bad enough, we have gotten on, one way or another, even when there weren't supposed to be locals
Now to find the will to record the gosh-darned album on my own.........

Biohazard had Tera Patrick dancing on stage
I'd love to play some aussie shows, but it probably wouldn't be cost-effective for any promoter to book us at this stage. Not until a few more features and festival appearances.

I take it you mean now has a LIVE drummer hehe
I'd echo what Sam said, fruital Assault was a great experience and we had a blast throughout.
I actually found it pretty stress free but I'd done all my panicking in the planning stages for this gig I really enjoyed playing to the big audience and weirdly didn't even break a sweat...
There'll hopefully be some more video footage soon, I'm getting hold of whatever I can (hopefully high quality stuff from the promoter).
Yeah Scotland next, possibly some UK fests later this year, then I'll put my new material thinking cap on.
I'd love to play the States and anywhere we've not played really, however it's got to be made to work logistically. Hopefully we'll be on a better footing for this stuff next year.

I randomly came across the Mithras thread at SMNnews and cracked up at your response Beany
I can definitely confirm I'm a total cunt.
Ha, yeah. I was drifting through the board and just unearthed this total sewer of gossip and hate. Thought I'd give it a poke.
Holy shit, it wasn't until I cruised through the net over the last couple of days that I realised how much hate there is out there for Mithras. Especially from other english bands! They get it even worse than Berzerker does from aussie bands.

Hehe, there's a few specific people who given any opportunity are extremely vocal about their dislike for Mithras, and what cunts we are (this Surt character on Smn for one). It's been going on for years and years; frankly I'm surprised they can even be bothered lifting finger to keyboard to repeat themselves anymore. Such is life
