I haven't decided but it's probably something of Trey's, if not Hendrix.

domination is admittedly one of my least favorite albums on the whole as far as MA is concerned, but it without question has the best leads. that one, and dominate, are just holyfuckingshit amazing i just don't even know what to do with myself

it's like two notes hammered-on/pulled-off/bent for three minutes straight

whatever they were trying to say with that solo, could have been summed up in a tenth of the time they took.

you've clearly taken the notion of open-mindeness to some absurd conclusion or another. the freebird solo is absolutely fucking moronic, try grounding yourself in reality for a fraction of a second, and you'll understand that.

i have a hard time deciding about my favorite band, album, riff, etc. but, i'm absolutely sure that the free bird solo is the best rock solo in the history of the universe. any theoretical explanation about why its not good just sucks. every hook, every two repeated two notes, simple blues licks, and trills are just masterfully soulfull fucking melodies. thats right, i said melodies. its a friggin explosion of melodies, the antithesis to what a typical solo is about, like bla bla bla exploration and letting go of structure. but that doesn't even matter, since the point of the matter is its absolutely fucking awesome. there's no point in trying to get it through to you. go do some math.

"go do some math?" that's supposed to be an insult? a slight? as if mathematics are somehow bad?

'tis a good "other choice" :santa:

and to continue in a Nile fashion: "Cast Down the Heretic"

also, there's an album that should be mentioned every time the word "solo" is invoked for it is one of the supreme manifestations of said musical aspect: Brutality "Screams of Anguish" :jizz:

All the leads on Domination kick ass, but I have to give it to the solo on Invocation to a continual one. That's just way too much awesomeness.

a lot from first maiden, malmsteen, first priest etc.

in extreme metal don't know. Slayer solos are only chaos. Trey's ones are good but anyway is a lot of effects and floyd rose imo.

This thread made me realize how little I pay attention to solos anymore. They seem so inconsequential in light of other things.

I guess the best answer I can give is the barely audible melody at around 1:00 in Converge - The Broken Vow, and the recurring melody at about 0:45 in Jane Doe
