That it's the same riff, according to this hard-on bearer.

What's funny to me is that what he does really is no where in the same universe as what Trey does. This kid thinks it's the same.

How many of us loved the old Slayer stuff? I did/do. But their chaotic soloing did nothing for me, really.

Controlling chaos is such a fine art, Two groups of chaos are absolutely NOT the same. If I heard what that kid did - and

I'm sure he's a kid - on an MA album I would surely think Trey lost something. Not to mention, the question would remain about the instinct

and discerning of diong what within what context! But when you hear "Trey chaos", you KNOW it's him. There's an actual quality of objectiveness

that utterly represents his signature complexity; in arranging chaos in such a way, it speaks to you as a texture behind the song structure; it makes

sense; it's memorable. Trey's solo's actually say something; they're alarming and sentient.

How many contemporary composers were/are there who tried to do what Stravinsky did? When you hear Mr. Stravinsky, you know it's his brand of chaos;

something artful; that moves you; that even next to 1,000 other arrangements of chaos, only his reaches into you and shakes your senses.

Now if this kid had the ability to create masterpieces and then also create Trey-like solos that actually did something to the listener then I'd say, ok he has the right to

critique; he's extracted the essence of what Trey is doing, so then he's probally right. But that's not the case! Which means he's totally remiss as to not only creating

something good as he demonstrated with that noise, but that he actually doesn't get it AT ALL. The fact that he spewed a typical chaos that does nothing means he also doesn't

connect to what people like Trey do. So he's missed the mark and actually demonstrated and reinforced how unique and difficult it is to create meaningful chaos - how IRONIC.

To be honest, Trey has had his share of uncontrollable whammy & tremolo picking wankery, without saying anything with it. This kid is so dead wrong tho.

I know I can, and i'm sure most of us can, 'hum' many of treys solos (or at least make the rough melodic sounds of his solos)

:santa:

Good post, TranscendingMusic!

I'd like to add that Trey actually controls these sounds, and that kid just wanks.
