Morbid Angel - God of Emptiness - APPRECIATION

I know I've listened to this song over a thousand times and every time I like it more and more. :bang: The mix on this song is perfect, you can really hear that bass throughout the song, especially in the end.

I just recently noticed that during the spoken parts like "And like a cat I'm stalking" there is an echo on any "S" sounds that he makes.

there is a cover of this song and the end lyrics "bow to me faithfully, bow to me splendidly" are screamed instead of being sung and I thought that was really cool

Yes! That's something I've always admired about Trey's execution of riffs: there's these kind of equavilent of drum ghost notes. I always made sure that I embraced these intricacies when playing MA covers. Typically like 4th's above or sometimes open non diatonic notes ringing, like in Vengeance is Mine!

On where the Slime Live, Trey intentionally - if you guys ever noticed this - picks the F# and Bb high strings back and forth; it's a 3rd layer guitar subtley mixed under the main guitars. Just adds this dripping slime effect. Just overall, this is happening on all records and adds such a unique sonority to his riffing.

ok i think you know what i mean ..there are like you sad several versions of this and you have to put a lot of feeling into it that it sounds quite good.. sometimes with slide in/out's or stuff like that..

like this hymn sounding riff from invocation ...it has also a lot todo with the rat distortion which supports the sounding of this technique imo.

Indeed! The high notes in the main Where The Slime Live riff was pointed out to me by uni777 once when we played it together. Then listening to the song I noticed those too. Pretty cool :xx:

It's cool you mentioned how every "s" David made it echos. This is random but on prayer of hatred did anyone else notice the squeaking noise at 00:03-00:04. Is it just a imperfection on my disc or is it on everyone's? Listen closely

Sounds like Trey slided/touched the strings when tracking.
