I seriously don't know what to think of this band these days. Seems like what was supposed to be a triumphant return backfired heavily (Vincent's return).

Morbid Angel will always be the definitive death metal band but it could be argued that they reached the "now its time to quit" point some time ago.

First song I ever heard by MA :headbang: it was featured on the Monsters of Death compilation along with killer cuts by Death and Obituary among others.

I really wish this forum was more active, as I like discussing this awesome band. It is a challenge to come up with new things to discuss though

I remember with joy the days when I began listening to this once great band... so far so good I've been keeping alive my most powerful and oh-so-unlimited inspirational triumvirate of sonic destruction (Gateways - Covenant - Formulas) from time to time with a good beer, a smoke or two and nothing more than the peace of being at my room scratching my hairy balls.

Just like Chuck said: "It is sickening to see dreams die". Mine died a long time ago when Tucker left, Trey turned into an uninspired full-of-shit asshole and Vincent came back.

Good for Pete stepping aside this ship of fools.

I love how D seems to be everyones least fav MA album.

It's a good listen a few times per year. Most of the material on there is pretty forgettable though. However I do love the direction Trey took with the solos on that one.

Underrated album to be fair... D is where the seed was planted for the lava in FFtF.

I love each and every song out of it, but it doesn't inspire me much as the previous albums I've mentioned before (Gateways - Covenant - Formulas)

Assuming we're pretending I never happened, yeah. But even least favorite from the studio albums A-H is still a monster of an album and there are some moments that just soar. Like hatemachine90238037 mentioned, the first F-H style lava was deployed in D. That seed would grow to become one of my favorite things about F-H.

I don't get the hate for D, it's an awesome album. I think some people complain about the production sounding too digital. Gateways sounds far more digital to me but I love Gateways though.

Personally, I've always enjoyed the fact that each album has different production.

I don't understand the hate either, but when I say it's my least favorite, I don't say that I hate it.

I have some complaints, but the overall album is great. Just not as great as the other 6 studio albums.

Yeah i didnt see any reason to mention "I" :brushteeth:

Concerning D, it wouldnt be fair to call it a bad album per se, it just lacks memorable tunes like someone said, and its the only album from A-H that doest contain even one song that grabs you by the balls.

Every band is bound to mess up at one time or another, and i find it interesting they did on this album. 1995 was pretty much the pinnacle of death metal in at least one understanding, and countless bands arguably released their best albums around that time ( see Deicide, Cannibal, Death etc..).

"Nothing But Fear" grabs me by the balls. The same with "Dominate" and "Inquisition"

I think Domination is a little more popular that we actually realize. It just so happens that the majority on mabb view it as slightly sub par. I've been getting into it more lately, though it does feel like the solos are the saving grace on this record.
