Scathing words about the new album (warning: anger!)

I have seen Morbid Angel on the following tours:

- Altars of Madness (once)

- Blessed are the Sick (twice)

- Formulas (twice)

- Gateways (twice)

(that's 7 times)

I own all of their albums (really! The CD's!) up to and including Heretic. Yes, that means A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are all physically in my closet right now.

I probably know the lyrics to 98% of the songs, even some of the the blah-blah Bil-Ur Sag stuff.

I have had at least 6 Morbid Angel shirts in my lifetime, which I wore until they were rags.

I have shaken Pete Sandoval's hand on three separate occasions in two different states.

I guess you could say that I am a big Morbid Angel fan...

However:

After hearing this last album I am absolutely out of my mind with disappointment. I would not have, in a million years, expected this tripe, this refuse, from one of the best death metal bands that have ever put together an album. Everything about it is abhorrent and a slap in the face to the fans that have brought you to the forefront of the global metal scene over the past THIRTY YEARS (MA was formed in '83!).

To even consider releasing a track like "I am Horrid"... Oh, wait... "I am Morbid" is absolutely inconceivable. I would have bet $1000 and laughed in your face if you told me that this would ever happen, yet here we are. I am utterly shocked that you have insulted your fans in such a flagrant and offensive matter.

At first I thought this song was a joke, some sort of slam towards the crap bands that you have been forced to tour with for the last decade, then I heard another abysmal track and realized that you actually crapped the bed on purpose.

Then I went on YouTube and listened to the whole album... Wow. It seems as if you decided to expand your range of influences to include Rammstein, Marilyn Manson and Korn, then let Frank Mullen of Suffocation come over and write some infantile lyrics for you. I am completely nauseated (and not in a good way).

I remember when a convoy of 8 other people and I drove 300 miles across the state to see you play with Pantera. You played THREE songs and then let the freaking Pantera singer do the vocals on the fourth (what?!), then YOU GOT OFF STAGE and Craptera played for TWO AND A HALF HOURS. My entire group stood outside in protest of the injustice (and the ruined weekend). Maybe this is why you've done this horrible thing? Because you are upset that crap bands take the headliner position as they regurgitate this type of bile? Is THAT why you've insulted us like this, because you are trying to imitate them and nudge in on some mainstream fame/groupies/money?

Trey, if you are still in the band (and my god man, I hope that you aren't), then my decades-long man-crush on you has come to an end. That massive bank of credit and respect that I have for you and your band is destroyed! SHAME on you for embarrassing yourself with this colostomy, and for embarrassing the rest of your band-mates, and really anyone that has ever thrown horns in your direction.

Please, assure me that the entire band will read this post so that they can all share in the shame of releasing this feces.

Goodbye Morbid Angel, rest in peace. We'll bury you between Carcass and Celtic Frost.

little late to the party but suffice to say most people feel the same way that you do.

i wonder how much income the band depends on from record sales, shows, etc.

it's personal territory but if they depend on the band for income, they'll continue until they drop. but i don't think that's the case seeing as how the were out of the loop for 7 years.

I would support changing out the Morbid Angel logo up top with the stylized MABB one from the joke SardFest poster and switching the title to MABB rather than Morbid Angel.
