MABB v6.6.6

from Trey. I always liked this album as one of my two favorites but I never thought of it as pure genius until I really focused on the riffing in Chambers of Dis. Will there ever be an album from Trey on this level?



I like the new album to a certain degree but I have to admit, Formulas is an album with *balls* whereas the new one is just Trey being lazy and probably losing interest. Maybe he feels frustrated that he's not too popular with chicks and that's why he's shifted in this direction.

Funny, I thought pretty much everybody here has strong individual opinion on all things MA... I also happen to agree with Ern and you are probably in a minority if you cannot tell that Trey isn't into it as much these days.

No, you are correct you all are correct. But "I" dont find it correct, to speak shit about Trey because he did what he wanted even if it dosent fit my taste. Also after he has given me so much already.

Formulas is the best MA album. IDI isnt even a genuine MA album IMO.

I don't quite rate it as highly all you guys but it's certainly right up there with the best of them. I just feel a couple of the songs sound a little samey, particularly the first two songs and then Hellspawn followed by Covenant of Death, although they're great songs. Nothing is Not breaks things up nicely and does a good job of enhancing the style of Where the slime live, whilst also having that fucking heavy ending. Probably my highlight of the whole album actually.

The overall structure and length of the songs are different, and they also reveal themselves eventually to be different songs but the general instrumentation within them are quite similar I think. At least on the face of things. Similar sounding riffs, blast beat speed and style etc.



Of course loads of death metal albums are like this though where even on the 10th listen all the songs still sound the same. Formulas at least in comparison is no where near as bad on that particular front

I guess coz there's just a higher number of full on blast beat songs on this album which leaves that impression on me

but of the four you listed, only Hellspawn is full out from start to finish.

Well yeah Hellspawn is the slight exception there but it's all very much a blast beat centered album. Only 2 of the 9 main songs don't contain any at all.

It's death metal. There will be blast beats contained within.

Still nile riffs are much clear, if you see fruital death metal bands today. I cant even find those riffs suppressed under those high blastbeat volumes.

Basically bands like MA and Nile have the songwriting to make it worthwhile despite lot's of blasting, even if it kind of sounds like it teeters on the edge of overusing them.
