Paranoia?!?

Post by forkofchaos »

For some reason I cant keep myself from being paranoid about MAs I.

I keep thinking that what theyve been showing the world as 'I' is a red haring in order to prevent leaks and to get a big buzz going about the album. (its working!!)

This would imply theres a different album which will be revealed on 6-6, with different material....

Thing is that they have spread rumours about themselves before in the past and it would explain why the songs seem so "underdeveloped" so far.

Ive been a fan since 1993 and loving them ever since so dont get me wrong; im highly anticipating Illud and dig the samples so far, yet something seems fishy...

Am i completely insane or does anybody agree?

Hahaha forkofchaos, that very same thought has also popped up in my mind :redneck:

I wish if it were true, but alas...

people have this thought all the time.

off the top of my head:

-when digimortal leaked

-when st. anger leaked

-when 10,000 days leaked

it would be an enormous expense of time and money to come up with an entire fake album, leak it, and give it to reviewers so that literally no one would have any idea that the music you'd been promoting before the album's release in fact had nothing to do with the actual album.

I = real

Yeah, I'm not sure what the purpose of that would be. Why would you want to generate negative word of mouth & then compound it with pissing off publications who help you promote your material ? Seems like a LOSE/LOSE scenario.

Plus, SoM isn't the type of label that would have the financial resources to do something like this on a grand scale. Heck, they can't stop delaying any special edition album release as it is.

But wouldn't it be the ultimate public stunt, don't you think? :redneck:

I definitely can see how they would benefit from it. First of all, to my knowledge it would be for the first time that someone actually did it, which is a big plus, and secondly, it would make that 'real' album to be better than it really is, when comparing to this current garbage/material of lesser value (imo)

Nah, a lot of people would hear and go "so they do suck these days..." and the short attention span would keep the punchline from ever having any traction. It wouldn't work (plus it's a really stupid idea in the first place).

despite his bizarre closed-mindedness in the sludge thread, mr. drum solo is exactly correct here

Oh I think I know what you're talking about. Basically, most Sludge and Grind material is the same as "Honey? I just put that late 70's Klause Schulze record on full blast, so could you throw my nephew in the dryer and turn it on for me?"

Lots of ambition but absolutely no songwriting ability.

The only possible benefit to putting out a fake promo would be to get the MABB all riled up. Mission accomplished.

Something like that would be amazing!

But being realistic, I know that won't happen.

Trey may wanted to see, do putting such thing people will hate him. But no one is hating him, people are just hating the material.

The mighty image of Trey is way too big in our point of view.

Doesn't Mea Culpa translate to "My bad"?

I don't think the album is fake but that song might be hinting towards this being a one off.

I fucking hope so anyway.

Mea Culpa = My fault

Mea culpa is a typical christian expression; it's part of a catholic prayer.

Mutilator, ye might be so right, although i admit im realy looking forward to hearing IlluD. :redneck:

Indeed a prank as such i would love 100% and i like industrial/ experimental shizzle so Illud will probably not dissappoint me , though agreed it maybe shoudve been released under a different monniker then Morbid Angel. I guess this is the artistic freedom Trey, Dave and Pete enjoy that comes along with actually BEING Morbid Angel; in the end they deicide what fits their artistic expression. Admittedly i understand the (Chambers of) Dissatisfaction that old school fans undergo yet I feel any art is about the reflection of the experience of the subject by the artist; in this case trey dave n pete.

In the end Covenant is one of my most beloved albums of ALL time (the sound, the songwriting, the lyrics, the playing and mostly the spiritual malevolent ATMOSPHERE>>pure fukkin' hate) , along with BATS, AoM, Domination, FFF and Gateways. Gotta state though that signs of experimentalism and genre-crossing urges have been obvious in MAs weirdO instumentals and certain songs since BATS' intro so no surprise there.

Just have this really weird vibe from everything surrounding the release of this I album.... cant really explain.... Id love to be proven wrong :brushteeth:

I think the absence of Pete gave space to do those technobeats: I think that when Pete returns, he won't allow that anymore :)
