Excuse my ignorance, but does this mean they're both eliminated? Or is it a series system?

As I understand it it starts off with groups of four. Points are awarded for wins and losses, the team with the most points after all possible matches in that group have been played moves on

So...England...sucks? Doesn't suck?

I have no idea, I haven't been following it at all I'm told the England team is pretty good, but it's often being said by English people.

I'm inclined to think that football in general would be more watchable if headbutting were more...not illegal.

I am of the opinion it is top three in enjoyability. A non-elimination match will end in just over two hours no matter what. There's always action, there's lots of subtle stuff going on, and more than any sport it can go from enjoyable to pants-crapping terror for a fan in the shortest amount of time possible. Basketball and ice hockey round out the top three.

But think if that stunt with Zidane were the norm. All of a sudden everyone would care.

I don't think sports should have ties. Sudden death, extra innings, I don't care, just make a winner.

If I recall, the hard-on bearer that replaced him in the shootout in fact made the shot, and one of the other regulars missed. It was a dumb penalty, but would the result of the game be any different?

i dont know what the result would have been... but i think they would have had a better chance had he not been sent off
