Good movie. Seen it a dozen times; even with the hype it gets it's still one of my favorites.
It's a good movie for a drinking game too, especially if you throw in all the optional "rules". Last time I did this we stopped the movie right after the "Does-he-LOOK-like-a-BITCH?" scene as we were already fairly fucked.

I don't know how anyone can watch this and Forrest Gump, and agree that Forrest Gump deserved to win any Oscar that shared a category with Pulp Fiction. Even in a world where Pulp Fiction didn't exist, there was still The Shawshank Redemption.

Pulp Fiction is better than almost all other movies.
The Shawshank Redemption was kind of dull. Forrest Gump was shit though if I remember correctly.

Forrest Gump is superficially enjoyable, but there's not a lot there. Slow hard-on bearer is oddly involved in various historical events. Gotcha. Pulp Fiction was just more. I don't know how else to describe it.

In retrospect, i'm sure the Academy would agree with you (and me). They just weren't prepared for something like Pulp Fiction, as ahead of its time as it was.
