i was practicing SF4/BB, and then i watched the usual suspects, all on my broken ps3
then they all fixed themselves by the time i got home monday after class
i wonder how many RROD'd 360s have managed to do that. i also wonder how many of those still retain 95% of their functionality while in their broken state

i, too, lost a motherboard once (probably the worst component to die on you, except maybe a harddisk if you have shittons of non-backed up data), but it was more than 10 years ago when i still knew fuck-all about computers and thought to spare some $$$ on the MB. never made that mistake again

Mobo on my old PC died... but the PC was at least 6 years old. Consoles don't stick around for that much, and I could still play most of the games I cared about on that system back then. Never had ram, hard disks(completely) or video cards fail on me. I have had some shit luck with cd/dvd drives though.

There's a big difference in ease of repair when a PC component fails, versus the death of a console component.

in case A, i do all the labor myself. in case B, someone else does it. a dead console sounds like a lot less hassle!
not that fixing a PC is particularly difficult, i've built plenty from the ground up. i just think having someone else do it is a lot less effort, and i am all about expending as little of that as possible on menial tasks

I'm rocking a laptop right now. They've gotten easier to repair and upgrade over the years. Still, I am aching for a PC to fuck with and game on.
