To cheat? Perhaps it was a requirement for a math course, as it was in my university, and he never downgraded. I needed a TI-83 Plus for my calculus courses, and used it for the rest of my studies. I was forced to downgrade to a Casio FX-115 ES for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, and now use that. I understand reverse Polish notation, but have not practiced enough to consider picking up one of the TI calculators that use it.

I have one that belonged to my brother but I've never used it, or needed it. A basic Casio sci calc does me well.



I have a course in which we should be allowed to use graph calcs(analytical chem) for retardedly complex equilibrium problems, but aren't, and instead have to waste precious exam time demonstrating shit by graphical approximations by hand, instead of actually doing real calculations.



This is mainly because the faculty is run by old decrepit masturbated crackers.

If cheating is a concern, it's really easy to clear a calculator's memory. I was able to use anything and everything. Hell, most of our exams were open book. If I couldn't solve a heat exchanger problem before the test, I certainly wasn't going to learn how to do it during the test.
