They are 406mm and 127mm guns. The 16" guns have a maximum range of about 20 miles and its rounds weigh over a ton each. The 5" guns have about half that range. There are also launchers for Tomahawks and Harpoon missiles fitted onto the port and starboard sides of the deck.



I'd hate to see the poor soul who caught one of those rounds in his lap

Richmond then Norfolk. This was at Nauticus, the Maritime Naval something or other Museum in Norfolk.

Virginia is actually kind of an interesting place outside of the northern va/dc metro area.

got my designations mixed up. those are actually 16 inch guns/45 caliber

not .45, but actually 45

The rounds for the 16" guns weigh a ton each

at that weight they don't even need to blow up
