It's not the violence per se, there are plenty of gorier games but the context of the violence is what makes it disturbing. It reminds me of the images of the Bombay jihadist rampage that happened last year, whoever designed that level definitely pays a close attention to this kind of stuff when its on the news.

We’re not just talking games, either. Books, movies, and music – none of them stood a chance against Activision’s not-so-secret weapon.



Last year, Grand Theft Auto IV stole the show, moving 3.6 million units and raking in $310 million – all after a mere 24 hours. Modern Warfare 2 also lured $310 million from the safety of gamers’ wallets, but sold 4.7 million units. On top of that, Modern Warfare 2’s day-one sales came only from the US, Canada, and UK. GTA IV’s numbers, meanwhile, stem from a worldwide launch. Thus, all things considered, it’s a photo finish, with Modern Warfare 2 sporting slightly longer legs.

So this is tasteless, but it's perfectly ok to play GTA, go to a mall, airport, whatever and blow the shit out of innocents with a rocket launcher, or run them over with cars? Or any of the other questionable shit that happens in those games?

alright, maybe i went overboard a little bit, i didn't really know what to think. i guess this part of the game was just done so well that it felt very realistic. it was really gory, people trying to crawl away with blood gushing from their bodies, ect.

Can you elect to not go through the airport mission in MW2? In GTA, you can avoid doing such things, if you choose.

you're given the option to pass the mission, it doesn't count against you either. so it's completely optional.
